PS4 Controller connection problems

Hey,

I've been having problems with my PS4 Controller that's connected to my Macbook. The controller has no problems connecting (Via Bluetooth) to my computer and works to navigate finder and it works for Steam games. But the controller isn't recognized when playing other games. The two in specific I'm trying to play are OpenEmu games and games downloaded from the App Store. When playing these games the controller input isn't recognized at all.

I've tried all solutions that include resetting controllers and the computer, I've tried reconnecting the controller, and I've tried multiple different controllers. I'm thinking something must be blocking or overriding the input when using specific programs. But I don't know what it could be. I'm not using any Joystick Mappers or Gamepad mappers. I've tried disconnecting all other Bluetooth devices and closing all other programs. But no luck

Please help! I've been trying forever and I'm out of ideas

I'm running Monterey 12.1

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

First, we'd like to commend you on the steps you've already tried on your own. They are very insightful and help isolate from where the issue may stem.

We're glad to see that the macOS software is up-to-date. Have you opened the App Store to ensure that all the apps are up-to-date? If not, you may want to start there. We know it is not related to the controller you're using, as it happens with multiple controllers. We can safely say it is not a macOS issue since it works, just not with specific apps.

If the apps are up-to-date and still experience the issue, your best bet would be to reach out to the app developers directly to see if they can offer any insight as to why this is not working or troubleshooting in order to get the controllers working.
