Do I have Silver Sparrow?
I downloaded CleanMyMac X by Mac Paw. I got it because I heard from several sources it is legit and I wanted to see if I had a lot of unnecessary files.
When I ran my first scan (free version) it said that it had detected Silver Sparrow on my MacBook Pro (2017) and pointed to an “insu” file in my library.
To remove it, of course, I will need to pay for the full version.
Thing is, I scan my MacBook everyday with Malwarebytes and Avira. They have never detected Silver Sparrow or “insu” and neither have the other two cleaner apps I tried.
So I’m wondering how do I find out if I really have the malware, because there is no “insu” file in my library whatsoever. No strange app in my applications as far as I can see.
It seems Mac Paw are lying to me?
I haven’t cleaned anything with the cleaner apps yet because I have heard they can do more harm than good. Mainly wanted an overview so I could take action manually.
Also scanned with SpyHunter, all it found was clutter files. No Silver Sparrow.
