Prevent iPad from charging when connected to macbook

Hello, I've been trying to use a usb cable to connect my iPad to my MacBook when using sidecar (secondary display for MacBook) as using it wirelessly leads to frequent freeze screens and connection issues. However, this drains my macbook's battery as it charges my iPad through the cable. Is there a method to disable the charging?

You are not going to be able to prevent the iPad from charging when connected to your MacBook Pro. This is because the cable will transmit data and power at the same time and there is no option to choose one over the other.

As you know, the best option is to keep your MacBook connected to power as well so that the battery is not drained. I understand that it is not the ideal solution that you were looking for, however, I do not see any other option at this time.
