Apple Service in Australia

I recently had an issue where I was given the wrong model pencil with my purchase of a new iPad Pro 1TB 2021. I paid for the iPad online and went to pick it up and decided I needed the newer model of pencil while I was instore. I was given the boxed pencil and paid for it. I didn't discover the problem until I arrived home. I had bought the new iPad, Magic keyboard cover, 4 airtags, camera cable plus the pencil so had spent an appreciable amount of money. I immediately rang the Apple shop to alert them to the pencil problem but all they could offer was that I drive back and go in to the very large mall to the shop and have it replaced. So I had spent 3.5K, driven 1 hr, spent 40 mins walking in, service and back to my car. No offer of a discount, no offer of a courier service and they actually were unable or unwilling to offer anything to make their mistake easier or more palatable to me instead I had to do it all that driving and walking again. Then I found out that not only did they give me the wrong product but that I was eligible to a discount and new airpods and would have received that had the service agent bothered to ask me any questions or offered any services which they didn't.

Now I am not saying that the store didn't fix this, they did but had I been living anywhere but a major city in Australia, it would have been nearly impossible to replace the pencil etc because they could not offer any courier service or online reparation. Instead I had to return to the store a third time! So 3 hrs of driving and 2 hours or thereabouts of finding my way in an extremely large shopping centre and lots of stress. If I lived anywhere else here, even that would not have been an option and I think that's ridiculous. I wasn't recompensed for the driving/petrol or time, I was offered no discount that I wasn't already entitled to. Nothing.

This is very bad service
