Wrong album artwork in iTunes for Windows

Hi, I have been importing CDs into iTunes for Windows.

When I try to download album artwork some of the albums get the cover from another album by the same artist. When I press the "show in iTunes store" button it links to the album with the cover that gets portrayed, and not the actual album. All the songs play correctly and names are displayed correctly, but it is still quite annoying.

For example, many of the Iron Maiden albums are affected by this. Somehow Iron Maiden, Killers, No Prayer for the Dying, The Number of the Beast, Powerslave and Senjutsu all show the photo of The Book of Souls (and link to it in the store).

Are there any good solutions to this?

This is such an absolutely idiotic problem to have... how is this not resolved after apparently being a known issue for several years with a half dozen apple support forum users coming up with random workarounds (like deleting your entire library or changing all the id3tags??)

It seems like a total crapshoot here -- none of the solutions suggested have worked 100% of the time for me.

Same problem here. I just purchased iPhone 13. When I synced it side by side with my old iPhone 8 I noticed a few songs didn’t transfer over. So I connected to my iMac. It duplicated most of the songs on my phone and switched all the artwork to random wrong albums. So irritating. For someone with OCD this is super annoying. I can manually delete the duplicates, but there’s 4,000 of them!!! And it will probably happen again when I connect my phone again. There must be a fix??

Exactly the same issue I’m having. Artwork on my iMac is unchanged and matched correctly, but the artwork on my iPhone is scrambled. Some is, some isn’t but a fair amount is scrambled.

Apple support suggested logging out of my Apple account, restarting and logging back in. Which changed nothing. I’ve synced with my iMac a few times, same result.

I had the same problem.

Figured how to delete wrong image: select the album inside iTunes, right click, select "album info". When box opens, select artwork from top line of options, click on the image (should show as selected), press delete. Image should vanish (of course, it should vanish when you press "clear album art", but it didn't for me).

Then I went to internet, searched for album. Loads of imagea came up, including one of the cover I wanted. Right clicked, Copied the image to desktop - it appeared named just .jpg. Renamed to "album art.albumname.jpg.

Opened itunes again, selected edit album, artwork, and inside that window pressed CTRL+V. Image appeared. Clicked OK and image appeared on album in library!!!!!!

I tried to get this sequence complete. I wish you luck.

Later created new picture folder named "album artwork" and will put such images there.

These methods are not working. I save a JPEG copy of the correct album art from Discogs on my desktop. It looks like it's being accepted when I add the artwork on the add artwork tab, it appears to save it properly but it then disappears when I leave the edit and go to the library. Your methods worked fine until I bought a new computer.
