I have a new macbook air running 12.1 and when I watch Ted Lasso the audio cracks during anything music related (the intro credit music for instance). I've checked the same music on Youtube and have no issues. I think it's something with the TV app.
ps: Figured it out. I tried resetting coreaudiod and that didn't help. The problem is definitely isolated to the apple tv app streaming programs as I'm not having issues in browsers or garageband. The same song that is the Ted Lasso theme plays perfectly when streamed over apple music. The answer was to set the playback options to the least data intensive. Stopped the crackling audio.

You know. That's a good question. I have downloaded Rick and Morty and that is not making the crackling noise. I'm only getting the crackling noise through the only show I've streamed through the app, 'Ted Lasso'. So I just tried streaming another show 'Fraggle Rock' and that is making the crackling sound as well, so I think it's just the Apple TV app when streaming shows.
Ok. It's not fixed. I can't 'unsolve' it, but I do think it is limited to streamed shows on the apple tv app on my Macbook Air M1, 2020
