Spam iMessage Group Texts From Email

Is there an ETA on when Apple will be able to allow us to block spam group messages when they were sent from emails?

I am getting up to 25 messages like this every single day. I know how to mute notifications already, but these spam messages are still filling my message inbox and it is very frustrating. They are also inappropriate in nature and are causing stress in my marriage, as my husband thinks I signed up for some sort of sex subscription. I clearly didn’t and it’s spam.

My daughter, who is only nine, also gets these and they are highly inappropriate. I was told by Apple that for some reason there’s no way to block them when they come from an email address. I have already tried blocked each number but I still get them.

Does anyone know if there is an ETA for Apple fixing this? Or giving us the capability?

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with spam in the Messages app. We're happy to provide some information to assist.

We'd recommend starting with the steps for reporting the messages. If these are for sure an iMessage, the section "Report spam or junk in the Messages app" here will assist: Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

We'd also recommend filtering unknown senders by navigating to Settings > Messages > Filter Unknown Sender. The steps can also be found in the same article in the section "Filter messages from unknown senders."

If any of the messages are SMS, contact your carrier to report them.

If the email address used for your Apple ID is easy to guess or publicly posted, you may consider changing the primary account address as well.
