How do I erase an external USB flash drive on my MacBook Pro?

You can use Disk Utility to erase it. Open Disk Utility from your Applications folder in Finder, or through Spotlight search.
Select the drive in the left side panel, and then click on “Erase” from the top menu.

You just plug it into a port either directly or using an adapter if the flash drive has a different connector than the ports on your Mac.

Use the Trash:
Important: Empty the Trash once you drag-&-drop it. Elsewise, it will stay on the Flash Drive.
I have it plugged in. My problem is how do you erase/reformat the drive
