how do i get verification codes to appear in Safari on MacBook air when texted to iPhone

When a website in Safari (on my MacBook Air) sends a verification code to my iPhone, how do I get Safari to appear simultaneously on the MacBook and to automatically fill the code field without manually typing it in, only clicking on the prompt OK or similar? For about 6 months the codes would be texted to my iPhone and simultaneously appear as an option in Safari on my laptop. I could select to automatically fill them without having to type the whole number. But that stopped when I updated to Monterey?

Would using my phone as a hotspot be a factor, that it only does it when using the hotspot, not regular wi-fi?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.2

Hey th1971d,

We see that you're unable to see the verification code from your iPhone to your Mac after updating your macOS, and we'd like to help!

We believe that you're talking about one of the Continuity features as shown here: Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch

If it only happens when you're connected to a hotspot, that's a possible reason why this might be happening. We suggest that you do this through a trusted Wi-Fi network for security reasons.

For any feedback that you'd like to submit to Apple about this with Monterey, you can do so here: Product Feedback

We hope this helps!

Best regards.
