iPad Apple Music EQ does not work on Home Pod Mini

This makes no sense to me but here goes….

I can’t get the EQ on my iPad Music settings to work with my Homepod Mini. No matter what the setting, there is no difference in the sound. I then tried it on my MacBook Pro, and had the same problem…until I connected to the HomePod via the control center (as opposed to within the Apple Music app). Spotify and it’s EQ works fine, but Apple Music iOS and it’s EQ do not. Is this a known issue?

Yes. AirPlay 2 normally sends the original digital audio data as is rather than a post-EQ mix.

Sorry, I meant to say routing from Control Centre on a Mac, which is post any EQ in iTunes/Music. And expected because this has been the behaviour since 2018. Apple don't document everything, some behaviour becomes apparent by trial and error or experiment.

I don't know why, just that it is to be expected. The exception would be when you route from Control Center, which takes a mixed/EQd signal, and presumably reencodes that for transmission.

Sorry...what makes you think it is to be expected behavior? There's no documentation stating as such...no nomenclature stating as such. And routing from the Control Center on an iPad makes no difference. The EQ has zero effect on the sound unless it's played on the iPad speakers. The EQ only works to a HomePod mini on my MacBook Pro, and only via the Control Center. Surely this can't be the expected behavior.

What would be the point of that? That renders the EQ pretty much useless. And you say “normally”….is there a workaround?
