Display freezes but mouse works after it un-freezes

Looking at your report shows that you need to do some cleanup of you drive. You have low disk space. Most drives need about 15% free space to work efficiently. You have X86 files which are 32 bit that will not work on Monterey. You also have Avast Antivirus, which will run in the background. You do not need it as Apple operating systems comes with its own security called Gatekeeper and MTR. You have or had Malwarebytes installed, which is good because the report shows addware. You have orphaned files also. possibly because you deleted some programs and left remnants. Large number of system modifications running in background. This can be because you have a lot of startup or login items. You can go to system preference users and groups login items and check this. if you click on the item in the box, you can delete them. this does not delete the program it only stops it from starting at login. Some programs that may srun in the background you would need to go to them check in there preferences to see it you can disable startup options. Have you uninstalled Avast?https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/Uninstall-Mac-Security/ Any third party apps you have. Check to make sure they are updated. Did you remove the adware? Try starting in safe mode and see if you still have problems.

I'd still like to see an EtreCheck report. Go to system preferences and if you have put hard disk to sleep when possible checked. if so uncheck it. Then see if problem still happens.

Are you referring to the screen or whatever app is open on the screen. Such was Google Chrome? Then starting out with the activity monitor open. Open it then click on the yellow dot in the user left corner. Then open Chrome and try to recreate the problem. Then click on activity monitor in the dock and check for any high cpu usage. Take note of whatever is causing it. Make sure activity monitor is set for cpu. Since you say the mouse remains functional you should be able to click on the dock. Let me know what you find.

Does it settle down after the 5 minutes and work as normal? Or do you get intermittent freezes? Do you have any antivirus programs running? Or third party startup apps? Disk cleaners or such?
