software update
I am running macOS Big Sur 11.6.2. I want to update to 11.6.3. After clicking on Software Update, I get spinning wheel next to Checking for updates… It never completes.
What is wrong? How can I get the update?

Check in Applications folder for a new application called " Install Monterey" - yes Monterey macOS 12.
If it exists and one does Not what to upGrade - Drag and Drop to Trash and Empty Trash.
Now, attempt the Software Update in System Preferences for Big Sur 11.6.3

That worked! I'm not sure how it got there. I never tried to install Monterey.
Thank you.
There are several reports of this happening. It has caused various issues for those not ready or wanting the Monterey at this time
