Since updating to iOS 15.3, my car won't stay connected; bluetooth keeps connecting and disconnecting

I've never had this issue before this update - but now, my phone keeps disconnecting from bluetooth in the car, and then back on again (every 30s cycle or so); I have an Audi 2012 - so this is bluetooth only - not CarPlay.... although my phone also is having issues with this iOS version on CarPlay in a 2022 Edge.

I have:

  • rebooted the phone
  • turned off the bluetooth on the phone and restarted
  • removed the car from the list of remembered devices and re-connected from scratch
  • turned off my iWatch completely (as this was in some discussions as a potential fix); this did not fix the disconnect behaviour

I have repeated the above steps in multiple sequences, to no avail.

Any other suggestions from anyone?

All I can ask of Apple is to please fix bluetooth issues in the next dot-release asap.

15.4.1 resolved this issue, although I did have to remove and then re-pair the bluetooth with my cars.

Same question here. Astra J 2012. Good and stable bluetooth connection became unstable since ios 15.3

The connection is fine when I start the car and it remains okay for a while. Then after not using the connection for a while the bluetooth of the phone seems to switch off automatically, the car says 'couldnt connect'. reconnecting does not work. forgetting the connection and reconnecting didn't make it better. same happens after having a stop, connection is gone and not to be re-estabilished.

looking forward to the next update :)

I never had a problem before 15.3, but after 15.3 update, phone connects to BMW Bluetooth and sometimes I can have 2-3 calls and all is good but sometimes after 1st call Bluetooth stop working…. It’s annoying and I know that I had problem with Fiat “blue and me” and apple never fix this problem so I hope this won’t be case with BMW now :)

I am having the same issue. Since updating to IOS 15.3 CarPlay keeps disconnecting. It will reconnect after 30-40 seconds, then disconnect again. I have also tried turning off bluetooth, removing my device and then adding it back again and restarting iPhone. Nothing seems to work to correct the issue. This is very frustrating when using google maps for directions, then it cuts out at they worse time.

similar issues infiniti fx.. iPhone 12 Pro.

Bluetooth does not automatically connect (both car and phone Bluetooth on) as usual, I have to force the connection by explicitly selecting the car’s Bluetooth in iPhone settings. when calls ends, the connection remains activated which means the radio remains paused/muted for several mins until Bluetooth completely disconnects. the same thing happens when using maps for directions.

** the way the bottom line question to Apple are:

1) How could it be possible?

2) How long shall we wait for took so fix it?

I bought a phone able to do certain things (stable Bluetooth connection with my car is not rocket science indeed!) and one nice this spec is totally off, affecting also driving safety and/or forcing me (and all other Customers) to less efficient ways around to drive and call safely.

In my personal case:

1) I can’t step back to previous iOS relesases because safety tools of my company require the iOS being always updated at the latest available

2) I can’t change phone because of the same reason (company’s phone with all the custom settings bla bla)

3) of course I don’t want to change my Audi because of such a stupid thing.

Overall result to me? Totally stuck with a premium phone that is performing worst than a 80$ unknown chinese one…I’m getting really mad about it.

Brand new iPhone 13 Mini paired with 2019 Infinity QX80. Music from YouTube or Spotify randomly cut out for a brief second frequently. Updated iOS to each release since we got it, and currently running 15.3.1. Tried everything I've read online except resetting the phone and starting over (which others have said doesn't fix the issue anyway).

This vehicle has had 5 other Android phones play music with 0 issues.

Just adding my issue to the list in hopes someone at Apple reads these forums to see how many people are affected.
