Since updating to iOS 15.3, my car won't stay connected; bluetooth keeps connecting and disconnecting

I do not think that it is a iPhone issue. My iPhone 12 pro was working fine with wireless CarPlay until IOS 15.3 was installed. It would be hard to believe that everyone that is having the same issue would be related to the iPhone itself.

So if everyone has an iphone, with completely different cars from different years, different service providers, all over the world, and the iphone is literally the only thing that there is in common, what do think the problem could possibly be?

I think we all know it is an iOS problem. I also paid $1500 for a phone that should not suddenly lose functionality that has been there for years. This is not isolated to a single car model. It should have been caught in QA.

Similar here. 2007 BMW. Worked fine until last iOS update. Phone connects to car ok. But when I make a call it disconnects. More specifically, the car shows the phone is disconnected, but the iPhone is still showing as connected to the car. iOS 15.3.1 on 2020 iPhone SE.

I have the same issue on 12 Pro Max. After the update I have the right of one call and then the BT connection just drops. Never had such problems before the iOS 15.3.1 update with my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2013. Haven't tried in other car.

Hope that this will be fixed in next iOS version and it will be released as soon as possible.

Well, it seems that it is not necessary to downgrade anything: someone already made it for us! In fact we bought phones having BT functionality and today (since months now…) BT is not working anymore.

That is the actual downgrade happened on our shoulder, it is not stepping back on IOS version (Notice: in some cases stepping back to previous iOS version is not possible because of digital security issues…)

We are stuck in this situation and no replies are coming by the “responsible-about-it” side.

That makes all of us really upset.

Glad you opened a ticket! So, did the rep acknowledge it's a bug? If they've reported it to the development team? If they're working on a fix?

FYI...I have an older car that doesn't have BT capability so I've been using a Motorola Roadster speakerphone for 8 yrs. I fully expected it wouldn't pair or work w/my new iphone 13 Pro Max given all these probs people are having. Tried yest. & much to my surprise, it paired & worked with no probs! Suggest you pass this info along to tech support if/when you speak with them.

I have the same problem with my 2009 challenger and 2008 Durango. It’s very very frustrating. It will probably end up causing someone to get into an accident. It sometimes connects then disconnects. Sometimes you lose the sound completely.

it’s very bad as it obviously happens when driving!

Yesterday I recognized one more issue…not only BT is getting loose but also as a hotspot the signal doesn’t flow smooth, with continuous interruptions as by BT.

OMG…I’m afraid about thinking that it will never be fixed

Woo hoo! Went into my car and was talking on my phone without backing out when the connection went silent only to blast from my car speakers--it recognized my phone and took over. Made several "Siri-initiated" calls while I was out and all went well. AWESOMEness....

Hello, I have the same issue after updating to 15.4. My iphone xs max simply connects to bluetooth of my focus 2016 and instantly disconnects. no restart helps. no unpairing of the devices. bluetooth audio stopped working after the update.

Same here how uselessness are apple. Constantly not connecting / randomly connecting then dropping etc. 11 pro max. In my case a 2013 mini (bmw mini) which is up to date and not previous having any problem

I have the same Bluetooth connection problem with my 2012 BMW 650i ever since iOS 15.3

My iPhone 11 connects for a brief moment and then disconnect saying it can no longer connect.

C'mon Apple... I just updated to iOS 15.4, so we'll see if the problem has been addressed.

Well … after the latest update, I tried everything suggested but it just kept disconnecting, so I just gave up. I bought a cheap hands free device (which worked perfectly) and booked it into the garage. The day before it was due to go in, the car sync device just started working randomly- no idea what happened, but hey ho I’ll take it! One week later still working fine!

Glad to hear it yes4me. I just updated from iOS 15.4.0 to 15.4.1 and it occurred to me afterwards that it may effect the currently flawless Bluetooth connection to my car with iOS 15.4.0. I haven't had a chance to check it yet, but I will now presume that if iOS 15.4.1 is Bluetooth stable for you, it should be for me too!
