How can I watch a show on my TV? I'm in the Apple TV app. my only options are in up next and how to watch. No option to start watching. I subscribed a half hour ago. Should I give it more time?

None of these answers or comments were useful. Everything on my Apple tv just says “How to Watch”, where before I could rent or buy movies/series.

Fire TV, Android TV/Google TV, and Sony TV currently do not support in-app purchases for the Apple TV app. You can buy, rent, or subscribe on another supported device and then watch in the Apple TV app on your device.

I have a Sony smart tv, before I could make purchases, rent/buy films, but now it says “How to watch” instead. So I guess it has changed recently?

I have since made my purchases on the app on my phone and its then available on the tv app, it’s just strange that I cannot do it anymore.

Yes, unfortunately the situation for Android TV/Sony has changed since about March 18, I guess (modification date of the referencing support article). The change surprised me as well.

Your subscription is available immediately. Select the show in up next or by searching. Then click on it to play.

On Amazon Fire TV devices, you can't purchase content from the Apple TV app. You can purchase content on another supported device to watch it in the Apple TV app on your Amazon Fire TV device.
