Incorrect Album Art on my iPhone 13
The album artwork for several albums is mixed up. The artwork is correct in iTunes, but I just did a sync to my phone and now things are messed up. Resyncing and restarting did not fix the problem.

I deleted the Music app from my iphone 13, and deleted all of the music. Then deleted all of the backup files that i have stored on my iMac, and resynced the phone to find..... a whole load of the album art remains messed up, This is not a minor issue as I really use the album art to select music when I am using car-play, as it offers a much quicker recognition of the album than having to search by name. Now, there is added jeopardy when selecting music in the car as I HAVE To read the album title to be sure of what I'm going to get. From a cursory review it would seem that all music I have bought form the itunes store is fine, but anything I have synced from my CD collection over the years is now corrupted. By the way, on the iMac, the album art is correct - it's only an issue on the iphone.
Come on Apple - sort this out - you should be embarrassed that such a basic feature has been an issue for your customers for so long. We don't all want to only use streaming services for our music - some of us have collections which we would like to keep.

As far as I can tell, this issue is old news, and Apple doesn't appear to be prioritizing it. They just sent out an updated iOS, but nothing to fix the artwork bug. I find it odd that they don't see this as a serious problem.
My iPhone 13 had similar problem whereby Album artwork messed up. Corrected the problem by deleting the Downloaded music on iPhone and Sync from iTunes on my Windows PC to restore music on iPhone, as follows:
I am so frustrated with this Apple 13 Pro Max. It seems that Apple is more about what looks pretty; design, style and color, and has COMPLETELY overlooked the technical aspect of its operation. After spending hours with Best Buy, their local contractor, to fix my music issue. I ripped hundreds of CDs to iTunes and none came across. Now my issue is that all the album artwork is jacked-up (like others have said). Even if you deselect items to be synced it does not seem to have any impact. I've tried almost everything. They are pretty proud of this version, based on what they charge for this phone, but I'm sick of spending my time (which also has a value) trying to fix what should have been worked out before they launched the product. I'm not willing to start over and remove all the music and re-sync. I have been an Apple supporter al the way, but next purchase will NOT be an Apple product.
Couple things:
Boy, I like my new I-phone 13 Pro a lot except for all my albumn covers not matching the songs correctly. My old I-phone never did that once. Sounds like a ton of people are having this issue, and being a real music buff & a perfectionist - it’s super disappointing. I tried a few fixes I read about, but couldn’t find success with them - Bummer!!!
I’m a bit aghast at all these comments like “delete your whole music library, upload album by album, go into an album and reset the art, etc”. Is this seriously the quality level that Apple expects its customers to accept. They produce a bug in their supposedly perfect ecosystem (which by the way was designed to keep you away from file structures and treat us all like tech newbies) and then expect us to experiment to fix it.
on top of this, many of my albums have now started to file under “various artists” when there are no other artists listed in the metadata. This is an even bigger issue than the album art. I have playlists that have totally disappeared as well.
Apple should be embarrassed about this. Perhaps they want to make the experience so poor that we all just give in and only use their streaming product?
I spent a lot of time on the phone with several Apple technicians. Nobody was able to solve the annoying problem. Supposedly the issue has been passed on to Apple engineering, but I haven’t heard anything.
Dear Apple Support who posted a link to the solution below - if you can't be bothered to read that post and the subsequent threads, you are not qualified to operate as a support representative for Apple products. That link IS for a solution... for Windows users. (and it's not lost on me how cruel it is that there is a solution to Windows users' problem with mismatched Album artwork and NOT one for Apple users as iTunes and iPhone are both APPLE products.) Why has Apple not created a viable solution to this problem when, in reality, they've caused the problem? What's even more painful is after months of mismatched artwork, I now ALSO BEGIN TO HAVE MISMATCHED SONG TITLES/ARTISTS AND ARTWORK - so it says it's playing Dusty Springfield with Sound of Music Artwork and it plays The Five Americans. Seriously?!
So I got on the phone with Apple support, and I couldn't understand enough of what the gal was saying to even get her to tell me if this was a problem that was being worked on and would be fixed at some point! Darn, I wish I had my other I phone from 2 weeks ago - it was perfect on the music. I do like a lot of things about this new 13 Pro phone, including the larger size for my worn out eyes, but this music thing is a bad deal.
That's interesting that you only have the problem on your phone. The artwork is incorrect on my phone and Mac. The Apple Support tech had me do what you described, but to no avail. We also created a whole new library on my Mac and resynced with the phone. No luck. They tried everything and gave up, saying that the issue needed to be passed on to engineering. I have yet to hear back from anyone about a solution.
Same problem, just bought my new iPhone 13, I have 40,000 tracks and over the years have accumulated and ensured album covers are correct as well as the genres. My Mac shows the correct artwork my iPhone jumbled, so annoyed with this, I too drive and recognise album art work as part of my selection choices. We pay a premium to stay with quality products, don’t push us away!!!
After looking closer at my library, if also noticed that a couple of the albums have each song individually filed, with same, but wrong album art of course. Really really getting miffed at this. I been a faithful iPhone user for over 10 years now & this is an iPhone issue because iTunes is the oem music app. None of the album art or album info is jumbled or incorrect on the PC, just the phone.
You shouldn’t need to have the latest MacBook IOS especially when you’re system is a few years older and you can’t upgrade to the most current MacBook OS…….
Your solution may work for some but not all and that’s not exactly a quick fix in the first place……my growing distaste for Apple continues.
Had the same issue with iPhone SE (iOS 15.5) when I transferred my library (ripped CD and older iTune purchases) from my iPhone 6s (iOS 15.4.1). Everything in Music on my MBP (BigSur) was correct. Solution was simply to delete Music App and all music files from new iPhone SE. Then download Music from App Store (no subscription needed) and then do a clean reload/resync music. I first did a "Selected artists, albums..." sync. Once I saw they Album artwork was correct, then did "Entire music library." Now everything is correct again. Sometimes, it's just a matter of starting with a clean slate.
