Have to reset password every time I login since recent update

As far as I can remember this has only happened since the latest macOS Update about 3 days ago.

Whenever I try to login it says my password is incorrect. Which it isn’t.

I have to reset it using my iCloud ID. Then when it comes to logging in again the password that I just changed it to doesn’t work UNLESS in all caps (I can assure you I didn’t set it with all caps).

Then when I restart my MacBook or have to login again, the new password doesn’t work whether I type it as I set it, all uppercase or all lowercase.

This has happened 4 times over the last 3 days. Super, super frustrating.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi, charlie.taylor,

Thanks so much for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If we understand, you're unable to log into your Mac until you reset your login password using your Apple ID. Then, you must go through the same process the next time you try to login. We are happy to help!

Based on what you've described, we would recommend following the steps outlined in the Apple Support articles If you forgot your Mac login password - Apple Support followed by If you can't reset your Mac login password - Apple Support.

If anyone else has access to your Mac, we would also check to see if they may be changing the password while using it.

Should you still need help with your password, please get in touch with Apple Support directly: Get Support.

Have a wonderful day.
