Mail gets stuck when I try to add a new Google account

Hi!

I'm attempting to add another Gmail account to Mail. After clicking the +, the window appears where I should choose a Mail account provider. Every option works, except 'Google': a spinning wheel appears and keeps on spinning forever…

Restarting Mail or restarting the system doesn't help. What have I missed?

Mail 15.0

OS Monterey 12.1

MacBook Pro

No I don't. And I don't even get to the step to enter any email or password. That screen comes up directly after choosing 'Google' as a Mail account…

All my existing Google accounts are working fine.

Thanks! Setting the default browser to Chrome did the trick!
