Use Warranty or Apple Care?

When should apple replace devices by warranty instead of making a claim on Apple care! My iPhone 11 facial recognition stopped working properly within a year, I went to Apple they confirm it but made me pay $100 to replace it. So I do it and move on (my stepfather had just died so I was under so much stress that was the thing I worried about)! Then I upgrade to the 12 7 months later the screen started looking a cartoon filter so things were discolored could take pictures or FaceTime so I go to Apple. The guy says there was nothing he could do because all the tests he ran said the phone was fine even tho he could see the issue I was describing. The only way I was going to get resolution was through Apple care, since apple refuse to recognize it was a manufacturer’s warranty defect. So the guy had me sign some things and charged me $100 to replace it. So of course $100 is better than them saying I’m forced/stuck to deal with that cartoon screen that jumped in and out! So I upgraded to 13 now and I realized I had a year of Apple care left, I paid Apple care 2years in full on purchase of the new 13 so I called to get the remaining credit. $280 for two years soo I should have around $140 left she was like sir I will refund $30 to you I was like elaborate! She brings up a claim I’m like I’ve never done a claim it was all manufactured defect then she reminds me of the screen issue with the iPhone12 and says that the claim said I stated that I dropped the phone in water I’m like wtf if you talking about that never happened he made that up to make a claim! She says that’ s a serious offense and no one at apple would do that! So…. I’m a liar ?? If I didn’t have Apple care they would not service their in warranty devices??? What good is an apple warranty if it’s obsolete? It’s like what is your warranty if defects can’t be recognized! It’s clear they can/will deny service to you. Soo why offer that like if somebody’s paying $1200 for device that they won’t be able to fix if it’s the company defect… like stop offering warranty tell people the truth you get no service unless you got apple care to be charged $100 to render their defect! So that leads me to that question. By apple warranty I should of been covered and not making apple care claims… let’s talk

If you purchased AppleCare+ — and the device is still in the AppleCare+ time period — that should always be the support and replacement level you receive from Apple (including expedited shipping if applicable). Note, there are instances where AppleCare+ charges a fee (cracked glass on front or back I believe is 29$ in the U.S., 99$ for other incidental damage repairs).

As DogCow-Moof stated, take your issue to Apple Support. If you previously went to Apple store (as your post suggests?) there will be a Apple case/ticket#. Reference that ticket number to Apple Support.

With AppleCare+ always first initiate a case with Apple Support if you’re having an issue, without exception ( I prefer to have the Apple Support app installed on my iPhone and initiate a support case via the app. Easiest). The Apple support person will open a support case and, if needed, provide replacement shipping or appointment options at your nearest Apple Store. They may even outline any repair cost if it’s physically damaged(see above).

So step one, have your ticket# from the case that caused the 100$ repair and go to Apple Support.
