Why does the iOS contacts app not save home addresses correctly?

Whenever I attempt to edit/update one of my contact’s home addresses in the stock iOS Contacts app it reverts to what was previously there once I select “Done.” I’ve discovered if I want to save a new address for someone I have to create an entirely new contact from scratch.

For example, if I initially had a contact with the address 123 Fake St, Springfield, IL, and then they moved I would edit their information in the app. If I were to put their new address in as anything else, say 777 DuPont Ave, Blacksburg, VA, then once I am done editing and select the “done” option on the top right of the app the address changes back to 123 Fake St.

This is slightly bothersome, I’d rather not delete and reinstall the app out of fear of losing my contact list.

iPhone 6s, iOS 14

Hello Empid,

It sounds like when you edit a contact's address, it does not keep the change.

Here are some isolation steps and resources that can help:

If you have multiple Contact accounts, check to see if this is happening in one account or multiple accounts. You can do this by opening the Contacts app, tap on Groups, and only contacts from one group. Test for each group. Manage and delete contacts on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If it is the case that it is happening on only one account, you may want to check with the company the account is from.

If it is happening to multiple accounts, technically you can remove the Contacts app and redownload it without it removing your Contacts Remove apps from iPhone. You will still have your Contact accounts in Settings and can access them through other apps.

Whether or not you go this route, if the issue persists, you may want to Contact Apple Support or use this Get Support link.

Hope this information helps.

Have a good day.
