14" MBP M1 Pro not charging via MagSafe

Brand new Laptop, It will charge via USB-C but not via MagSafe.

When MagSafe is connected it will charge for approx. 2 seconds and stop.

Here are some of the MagSafe related messages from console. Might be some kind of handshake that fails.

Hello LorinLD,

You should check that your outlet is working, and your MagSafe port is clear of debris.

Or, refer to this Apple Support article for help.

I hope this can help,

Jason

Because this unit is new there may be a factory defect in the charging circuity.

Usually there is a '14-day return without question' after purchase span of time

when bought through an official Apple retail store. ~ An authorized reseller, if

that's where your purchase was through, may make allowances.

(Or if the sample defect fades after some localized re-testing, that'd be OK.)

Since the new MacBook Pro uses M1 technologies, a 'power reset' would follow

the path prescribed via Recovery, or other non-Intel means to test this issue.

"If your power adapter still isn’t working, you can bring it and your Mac note

book to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for evaluation."

Contact ahead of travel due to any restrictions on personal contact once there.
