Pair an Xbox controller to your Apple device - Apple Support

Check that the firmware on your controller is up to date.

Update your Xbox Wireless Controller - Xbox Support

Update through Xbox console wirelessly
Update through Xbox console with USB
Update through Windows 10+ PC and the Xbox Accessories app.
