IPAD unexpected shutdown

My IPAD Air 2 was showing 60% charge when it shut down with a dead battery indicator. It had been used for about an hour after being fully charged.


I recharged the battery overnight and checked the battery health with the Cocoanut battery app. It’s showing a healthy battery.


Are there other possible causes of this issue?

As described, your iPad or its battery may have a fault. These support pages should help with troubleshooting:


Charge and monitor the iPad battery - Apple Support

If your iPad won't charge – Apple Support


Troubleshooting generally requires substitution of the Power Adapter and cable for another known-good item.


If you continue to experience difficulties, you might be best advised seek assistance directly from from Apple Support - and request a remote diagnostic test. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad, Power Adapter and cable(s):

That battery might be reaching the critical point of its life, and can have unpredictable behavior (if you can, create a full backup of your device ASAP).


I suggest that you contact Apple Support directly (they have tools to run remote diagnostics, battery included) using this link:--> Get Support , or make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> Apple – Location Selector. After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.
