My MacBook Pro 2021 Touch ID is disabled

When I charge my MacBook Pro 2021 to 100%, Touch ID is disabled and I need to enter password manually. It seems like the OS has restarted because Mail, which I normally keep open all the time, needs to be reopened. Password is also requested occasionally when not charging, but none of the situations have occurred where this should be normal (repeated failed attempts to login, not opened MacBook for 48 hrs,...) Minor inconvenience but puzzling

Thanks in advance

Note:

There are a few instances where Touch ID will not be accepted by macOS:

• If you restarted your Mac, or if you're not logged into your user account.

• If you have not unlocked your Mac for 48 hours.

• If you are trying to unlock Security & Privacy

• If you are trying to unlock Users & Groups Preferences (when FileVault is on)

• If 5 wrong fingerprint attempts

the restart explanation seems relevant, but why does my MacBook restart when charged to 100%, which seems to trigger this situation?
Thanks
