Can't see files in folders unless I show hidden files

For some reason I cannot see files (such as .mp4) in my HD folders (see Screenshot 1). It says 0 items under folder “A Confession S1” but I know there is six items in there (see Screenshot 2) where they are “greyed out”. I am able to see all items when I view all "hidden files" using Command + Shift + .


I recently upgraded to OS Monterey 12.2.1 but I don’t this this had anything to do with it!


Clearly I don’t need to see all “hidden files” all the time as they include system files, etc.


Any thoughts or solutions?
