Can’t make calls on HomePod Minis after upgrading to new iPhone

After upgrading from an iPhone 6s to an iPhone 13 Pro I had been unable to make calls on any of my HomePod Minis. All devices were up to date and rebooted more than a few times while trouble shooting the problem. Apple Support was just about to have me pack up my devices and take them to an Apple store when I discovered the solution. I had to disable Personal Requests on the HomePods in the home app and then re-enable the setting. Apparently it was not updated during the transfer from old phone to new. It was still trying to service requests through the old device.

Hopefully this will help others.

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 15
