Mail app fail on iPad only
My iPad with several Mail accounts seem “hung up”
It will not open mail app, showing unfamiliar icon.

The reinstalled icon of mail app sat there "waiting " all night long. The installer said "all data will be lost" ?
I simply did a shut down & restart . Much to my amazement all mail accounts were back and in sync with iMac and completely functional. :-)

This icon suggests that you are reinstalling the native iPadOS Mail App - and have paused the download/reinstallation process.
