USB drive issue - macOS Monterey would like to erase with no need to preserve data

A multiple file copy process stopped on a password encrypted sandisk cruzer 64GB drive.

disk is mountable / password accepted / drive active but not usable. (see below)

Stuck in a loop. Would prefer to erase with no need to preserve data

Have tried Disk Utility "erase" - ""failed" "A writable disk is required" (-69772)

Have tried First Aid - "...one or more volumes are locked (-69502) and Problems with partition map....:" (-69842)

Messages Received:

"You can finish copying now or keep a resumable copy and finish later."

1 - Finish Copying

2 - Keep Resumable Copy

Option 1 - Finish Copying "A folder already exists in this location. Do you want to merge or replace it with the one you’re copying?"

2 choices: Merge / Replace

Merge - "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0)."

Replace - "The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again.

In Disk Utility, make sure you have selected Show All Devices.

Then select the top level listing for your Sandisk Cruzer device, which will be above any volumes (indented below the device) that exist on the flash drive. You should then be able to erase the flash drive.

If not, then perhaps the existing encryption is getting in the way. How did you encrypt the flash drive? Did you use the Sandisk SecureAccess app? You may need to remove the encryption with the app.
