Apple TV/Airplay/Sonos

A recent update (last month or two) "broke" the connection between my Apple TV HD and my Sonos (1st generation) speakers. I can still "see" them as always via the TV app and remote but when I select them they no longer connect. Updates shouldn't "break" things.

Apple TV booting Sonos off Airplay Hi all, Seeking some advice. We have flawlessly used Airplay via Apple TV to Sonos One for some time now, but in the last fortnight, it's stopped working. I've spoken with Sonos and ruled everything out from the speaker set-up, Sonos still plays from my iPhone and MacBook without issue so it's only Apple TV that is the problem. I've re-set, re-checked and done everything I can think of and read of, still no love. Our internet set up or house set up has not changed. It just stopped working suddenly. Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? Airplay on Apple TV can see Sonos but when I select the speakers or even one single speaker it allows me to check the box, then reverts back to the TV speakers. Help is greatly appreciated! Apple TV 4k no longer syncs picture and sound through projector and airplay speakers. Why? Hello there, I have been using my pair of Teenage engineering OD-11 speakers very happily with the Apple TV 4k device for the last couple of years. Now, all of a sudden, the sound no longer syncs with the picture. Has this been reported from other users? I use a projector connected to the apple tv then the sound is sent over airplay to the OD-11s. Not long ago Apple 'updated' the TV OS so that the OD-11 cannot be selected as 'default' speaker. Only Apple speakers can do this... So maybe there has been another update which makes Apple speakers also the only ones which sync with the picture? There's actually a 'sync picture to sound' feature on the Apple TV device but this only works with speakers set as default. Which Apple have disabled for non-Apple speakers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! RKB

Sonos has a wide range of speakers. Please specify the exact model.

For best quality, users are advised to not AirPlay to the soundbar from Apple TV, but instead set Apple TV to output audio over HDMI to the TV (“TV speakers”), and then set the TV to passthrough the audio to the soundbar.

if the soundbar and the 1st g support it then one can do as I do with the soundbar 2g

it is connected to my tv's hdmi(ARC) port which mean it's automatic the sound of all tv audio
