i’m receiving lots of spam emails on the daily but the recipient’s email isn’t even mine? (and it doesn’t actually exist either)

i keep getting spam emails in my inboxes but they’re never actually addressed to either of my email addresses and it’s not a variation of them either. i pulled up the email domain’s website to check if the recipient’s email address exists but it’s not registered. i’ve hidden my email, blocked every sender and keep moving the emails to junk but they keep coming back. today i had to do the whole procedure for 22 (!!) emails. please someone help me, i’m so frustrated and annoyed by this.

ps.: i think it started some time after updating to ios 15.

iPhone 11, iOS 15

Someone with your email address leaked it somehow and you are on a list for sale to spammers on the web.

If you never normally get mail via a bcc then you can set up rules in most decent email provider's web account to junk any mail without your address in the to: field. Look for mail rules.

You just have to scan the junk folder for good mail. Some allow you to whitelist the mail from your contacts only or from a list.
