First whenever the application crashes you need to delete its preferences because they become corrupted and in turn this will cause further crashes.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences. The application will start in a default state, and open an “Untitled” library.

Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

If the problem persists: Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here.

Use the “additional text” button and paste the report into the text box.

The first thing that stands out is Chrome - a well known enemy of video applications.

See https://chromeisbad.com for why and how.

After deleting Chrome and its evil keystone daemons, you need to delete and reinstall FCP.

You should also delete the Samsung portable SSD software.

Your mac is perfectly capable of using external drives without third party software. It is also crashing, and that may have been causing FCP to crash as well.
