iFit is not writing to the Health app

Hello!

Back in September 2021, iFit became a connected App to Apple Health. And it worked flawlessly. All of a sudden, in the last week and a half, this isn't working.

Apple Health is still writing to iFit, but iFit is no longer writing to Apple Health.

I have been in touch with iFit and yes, I've done it all! Deleted the iFit app, added it back, made sure it's showing as a source of data for Apple Health, but still no luck. So now I'm curious if it's an Apple Health thing.

I count on my iFit workouts to close my rings each day. Help!

And while we're at it... any idea why an Indoor run and what my treadmill tells me I've run never match?

I have had this problem for the last week or so. Just stopped working. Multiple support tickets with ifit. Tried all the solutions here, resetting app data, remove and reinstall. Very frustrating.

I just found a work around. I am using Strava as a bridge. Add Strava as a connected app in ifit (and Strava connected with Apple Health) and boom rings closed! Your workouts go from ifit -> Strava -> Health -> Fitness. It can take a couple minutes for it all to update, but has worked well for me for both spin bike and treadmill

I would add I have tried removing and reinstalling both the iPhone and iPad apps and no luck. I have confirmed and reset the permissions on the iPhone. I've signed out many times also :). Over on Reddit (See -> has_ifit_stopped_syncing_to_apple_health_for) there is a thread that strongly links this problem to the 15.3.1 update. I looked into downgrading but learned Apple stopped signing 15.3 so that isn't an option. So it looks like we must wait for Apple to fix this issue preventing iFit from writing data to Workouts. I don't have any issue with FitBit or LoseIt writing data on 15.3.1.

All,

This happened when the iOS 15.3.1 update was released. Prior to this ifit would write to Apple Health flawlessly (more or less). After the update was installed, it stopped. Check when this was installed on your phone. I noticed there is a new 15.4 update so perhaps this issue was fixed there but I have a feeling that it isn’t since Apple and Ifit are claiming to not know what the problem is and making everyone waste their time deleting and reinstalling and checking things.

tonyajhen,

In the Health app, are you able to see iFit as an option and choose the data it is writing and reading from the Health app? Is everything you’d like it to share enabled? You’ll be able to check that in the Health app by tapping Summary > your profile icon > Apps.

The following article also goes over how to manage the sources that the Health app gets data from and prioritize them - Manage Health data on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

Thanks.

I have started having the same issue since Friday. After hours on the phone with apple support no luck in figuring out why. They sync if I do the iFIT workout on my phone, but not if done on my iPad. Even though iFIT is registering the workout done on the iPad when I open it on my phone. Why are Apple Watch and apple health not available on the iPad. All devices should have the ability to sync with each other. Apple feels it has to do with the lastest iOS 15.3.1 and that iFIT has to update their software. I will call them iFIT tomorrow. I have dealt with it enough today. I even thought of mirroring my phone to the iPad and apparently you cant do this, only to Apple TV. These are some issues Apple should take care of. I have even factory reset my iPad and reloaded everything. So frustrated! I too count on iFIT to close those rings. I want credit for what I do!

So far, fingers crossed, the issue is only with my iPad. I may try a factory reset and manually set it up to see if it will instal an earlier version of iOS. The tech thought it had to do with the update.

As well I was told that with the Apple Watch exercises it uses the cadence of your area swing. Swing away! Assuming they are both in the same measurement (miles/Kim’s).

[NO]Update:

tl;dr Keep hanging in there I'm afraid. I'm told something will be fixed in the next update but without a bug number/ID to indicate this is an acknowledged issue I don't have perfect confidence. No date given.

I logged two tickets with iFit but they were never responded to by iFit. Via chat I worked with an employee to step through the usual repairing procedures. Interesting point: iFit blocks this site. Employee was helpful as possible and scores points for thoroughness and desire to help. About 90 minutes spent.

In my opinion iFit needs to hear from us! Please use the chat to open cases on this so they understand how many people are affected and prioritize appropriately.

Good news -- you can input the data still. If you go to Apple Health>Workouts there is a button on the top right to "Add Data." One thing I learned (Watch users especially) is to take care to match the time up else it may affect your rings, for example if I run at 8a for :30 but put it in for 9a it will double the exercise minutes since your watch will have sensed the exercise.

I also see the Apple Health data in the iFit app.

I have also tried using the Apple Fitness app to log from my watch--and I prefer this but sometimes I forget to stop it. :) The Fitness app is the only way I've found to track rowing, there are several other apps that can log running to Apple Health like Pedometer++(equal to Apple's app, but run/walk/hike only), ECHO (great for heart rate tracking in iFit for Watch users, so-so for tracking workouts). I use AllTrails for hiking which logs fine presently.

You can log any of the workout types manually but I find it tedious, especially because you can't edit an entry, you have to delete/do-over. (Apple Feature Request>Edit Apple Health Workouts please!)

I'd be interested to hear any other workarounds folks have found.
