hi,
after updating to MacOS Monterey, the software-update does not work.
this is the case in System-preferences, as well as in Console.
the problem is a small spinning wheel.
there does not come an error message.
you advise me to do a recovery re-instal.
but I upgraded from Catalina 3 days ago to version 12.2
immediately there after, I updated to 12.2.1
and now you advise me to do a recovery re-install ??
I was really hoping for a simpeler solution.
Sometime a reinstall can solve problems with updates. It you have any programs installed , such as antivirus software disk cleaning software or uninstallers, please uninstall them. They do more harm than good. If the programs don't come with an uninstaller look up how to uninstall. Mac systems have built in security. You could download and run Etrecheck and post the system report to here. It can show what the problem is.https://etrecheck.com/
You have the latest version of Monterey which is 12.2.1 But as far as updating. It should have a spinning wheel ,then stop and say No Updates Available. There is a Beta update out, but only for developers 12.3 Have you tried running in safe mode to see if update works as it should? On intel Mac you startup with shift key down. On M1 Macs startup to the options and pick it.
Try going directly to the App Store and use Updates. What do you get a message or a continuing spinning wheel? Use recovery to reinstall and try again if you just get the spinning wheel.
thank you,
I have no software like anti-virus, etc.etc. as you mention.
and indeed I do have Etrecheck, but that is only active when started up.
all official directions to download Montrey send me to Software-update in System Preferences
but that does not work.
so, where can I download the latest version of Monterey ??
