Tiny videos in text messages on some but not other devices

On my iPhone 12 pro I sent a video to three other people, two with iPhones and one an android, which as I understand it means the text message goes through as an SMS message. The android received my video just fine but the two iPhones received tiny thumbnails that were poor quality video. Why would this be? All devices are up-to-date with the latest software.
