My tv “comes back ON” every time I shut down Apple TV.

Using my Apple TV remote for shutdown, it turns off the tv, then my sound system but TV comes back ON because it still sees the input from Apple TV (that hasn’t switched off yet). Can I change the timing or the shutdown order?

Hi Cratis219,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that your TV powers back on after it is shutdown using the Apple TV remote and we'd like to help.

This may have something to do with your TV's HDMI-CEC settings as mentioned in the resource linked to your post, If you can't control your TV or receiver with your Apple TV Remote.

If you only use the Apple TV to power the TV on or off, you could try disabling the HDMI-CEC settings to see if this is changes the behavior of the TV powering back on. If it no longer powers off at all with this disabled, there might be further settings for your TV regarding CEC (Consumer Electronics Control).

You may also want to check with the manufacturer of the TV to see if they have recommendations for this setting.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
