Potential Malware

User clicked on a malware link from a phony email. Cannot find any new files, which is worrisome. What options are there/ precautions can I take? Just wipe phone? Restoring a backup taken now would reinstall problem, right? Thanks in advance

Thanks for your replies.

I could provide the link, but I don’t like the idea of propagating malicious links.

I tried using a few online resources to run the link through, but they came back with nothing.

However, I cannot imagine a targeted, spoofed email (**the FROM name was listed a friend, but the email address was a definite burner email address, so it was a deliberately targeted effort) was just for no reason. I am guessing there WAS a payload, but after the site was accessed enough times, any malicious files were removed to avoid expert detection.

The story in the email did not reflect what was at the page, so it was a clear malicious intent, targeted to this email recipient address alone

malicious link attached in mug file so uncluckable

Edit: moderator removed all links, email from addy, even in img form, so I cannot help with providing one.

User is an older person who is not exactly forthcoming/ “cannot remember “ what happened after clicking the link.

Older folks are very often evasive out of pride when they do something they are regularly warned about. There is no way to determine what happened. Phone is used for personal finance, so I prefer to wipe, but I have minimal Apple experience and want to keep users Notes, Photos, Movies, etc.

Thanks again for any help.
