No shortcut to change font color in notes?

I understand I'm supposed to click format, font, and then "show colors" (or shift-command-c). But is there any better way to do this? Having to continuously re-pick a new color every time I open the "show colors" menu is unnecessarily cumbersome for such a simple action. The menu bar being customizable could have a color option as there's tons of room for it.
