Fn + function key does not use special features when the 'Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys' box is ticked.

Same issues. fn + f4, fn + f5, fn + f6 don't work when the 'Use F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys' box in Keyboard settings is checked, it reproduced only for this combinations, couse other combination work good. Also all combination like fn + f.. work when 'Use F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys' box in Keyboard settings is unchecked

what exact Mac?

what macOS?

internal keyboard or external keyboard?

what keyboard localization you are using?

I'm using an M1 Mini and Apple Wireless Keyboard with Touch ID. With Use F1, F2, etc… selected I cannot use the Spotlight, Microphone, and Do Not Disturb buttons (F4-F6). All others work (I don't know about brightness as I can't adjust that).

I submitted a bug report.

For what it's worth fn+F4 does not work with mine either, plus a few other combinations. But a good shortcut for Search is Command space. You could leave feedback with Apple: Product Feedback - Apple
