Apple TV

My Apple TV is constantly stopping to buffer. It is unable to play for more than four or five minutes before I get the pinwheel. This happens across all my apps (Hulu, Disney+, Netflix and (possibly) Amazon Prime Video. It seems that this is a longstanding and fairly common, highly frustrating issue. There does not seem to be any clear cut solution besides various degrees of "reset," or checking internet speeds. Meanwhile, I hear my Roku going nonstop in the other room without pause. It never fails. Ever.

Buffering issues across all apps would point to the network connection.

As interference can be verify local, avoid closeby metal structures and shielding, and high power devices and cabling. Its effects can be different by as little as a few feet.

Verify for neighboring Wi-Fi networks that might interfere on overlapping channels. Its effects can be different from room to room.

This was lifted off of a Reddit member.

You have to manual set your IP on your apple TV settings. There is an issue with the apple TV and using DHCP to automatically find an IP address, so just set it to an IP address that you don't use. Additionally, go into your router and assign a Static Lease for the Apple TV, using its MAC address and the IP you decided to give it.

I appreciate your response. I agree with your logic: one would think that it is a connection issue since it seems to affect anything coming into the device. Still, it seems odd to me that a network connection would suddenly crop up after more than a year playing flawlessly. Nothing has been moved, the WiFi has stayed the same, and I've often checked the network connection strength (more than adequate). I've also re-set the AppleTV connection to the WiFi network on several occasions, having the device "forget" the network, and then reconnecting. I've even connected it to my other WiFi network, thinking maybe that network might work better for some reason. No matter which WiFi I go to, the initial "reset" helps for a bit, but shortly thereafter the issue returns. It gives me about five to ten minutes tops. Likewise, I've uninstalled my apps (Hulu, for example), and re-downloaded them into Apple TV, thinking it might help "reboot" the relationship between app and device, but it does not solve the problem. I will say that this buffering issue is inconsistent in that there might be some periods during which I can watch an hour of TV without a problem. Once I see this issue crop up, however, I know the night is done watching TV in that room, for it is not a sort of 'one-and-done' problem: once it hits, it will continue until it successfully frustrates and disperses any nearby human beings. Is there a way to reset the entire device back to original factory settings? Is that even a smart idea? I'm not particularly tech savvy, but I've surfed into this as a stated possible solution for others vexed as I am with this problem. I'm not sure if that is a good solution, but since I only have the aforementioned apps on my Apple TV, re-installing them seems like it should be a breeze. FYI, my Apple TV is about three years old. Maybe four.
