how do I import conacts from my ipad to my imac? I want to access the full set from my phone or ipad. The imac is not on the cloud because of a security need but the phone and ipad are.

Open Contacts. Under File on the menu are Export and Import choices.

Connect the iPad/iPhone to the iMac using your charging cable and select the iPad/iPhone in the Finder Sidebar. Then click on Info, select copy/move contacts and click sync.
