Restricting what in-game ads can do
I play a couple of mobile games that give you extra resources if you watch ads periodically. Unfortunately, some of the ads tend to crash. So I lose the reward, and often previous rewards that haven't yet registered.
I'd like to do three things:
- Block ads from being able to access and/or open the App Store automatically.
- Block all ads with playable components.
- Block all ads for zombie games.
On the first point (the most important), when an ad attempts to access the App Store, that seems to be the most common point for a crash to occur. As far as I'm concerned, it's also a breach of my privacy. The App Store should *only* open when I take direct action to do so.
On the second point, the playable components of some ads (the ones that are trying to engage you within the ad) are frequently unstable. I never want to see them.
On the final point, I hate all zombie games. I will never download or play a zombie game. The closest I will ever come to playing a zombie game is Half-Life 2. Given that various zombie games are particularly bad offenders when it comes to points 1 and 2 -- plus my attitude to this type of game -- I want to personalise my ad selection to specifically exclude this genre. Small hope, I know.
Obviously, the first point is the most important. I did find an old post about disabling automatic links from opening in the App Store, but it seems to apply only to an old generation of iPhone, and definitely not to my iPad 6.
I would appreciate any information on these issues, but please accompany all information with links to its source on the web. Thank you.
