Ratings don't sync from iPod to iTunes

I have an iPod touch which I've updated to the latest iOS, and iTunes on Windows also updated to latest. At one point in the past, my iTunes database needed to be rebuilt, and I lost all my star ratings on songs. They are still on the iPod however.

When I sync my iPod, the ratings are not copied over to iTunes. Is there some incantation I need to restore my ratings from my iPod to songs in iTunes?

Devices:

iPod touch 6th gen, latest iOS version 12.5.5

iTunes for Windows 12.12.2.2

Windows 11

Windows, Windows 10

TroubleConsultant,

Your iPod will only sync information back to the original library it was synced with. So if you're using a different library file that data won't be transferred back to your computer. If you subscribe to Apple Music, you could sync library from your iPod with the library on your computer. This should also sync the ratings you've given your music as well. You can learn more about that here: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

We hope this helps.

Take care.

Hi TroubleConsultant,

We see you're trying to restore the ratings on your Music. The best way to do this would be to open a copy of your iTunes library dated prior to the loss of the rated information. If you have an older copy of your iTunes library file you can learn how to open it up here: Back up and restore your iTunes library on your PC

We hope this helps.

Take care.
