Dismiss/Disable "upgrade to macOS Monterey"

My mac does not support macOS Monterey but I keep getting a pop-up notification banner to upgrade. Only way to dismiss and continue with my work is to click on it, wait for the app store to open only to have to close it and continue with my work.

do not want to upgrade .... notification in System Preferences i am happy using Big Sur, and the persistent upgrade for Monterey in Software Update - although present - did not show a notification bubble on System Preferences - until today. I don't wish to upgrade to Monterey and want to turn off the notification. The upgrade is optional as far as I see, users should not have to be steered to it as the only way to get security and os updates for their current OS choice. how can the notification for Monterey be disabled/turned off and if the installer winds up downloading itself on my mac it will occupy 12GB which I do not want.

Dear Apple: Why does my 2013 MacBook Pro show notifications for (impossible) software upgrade to macOS Monterey? I have a very frustrating situation. My 2013 MacBook Pro retina repeatedly shows an "upgrade" notification for Monterey MacOS - which is impossible, because the limit for my machine is Big Sur. I'd have to ditch my computer and buy a new one to do the upgrade. Originally I considered this a harmless glitch but now many months later I still see it so it really irks. As my screenshots show it will even occasionally let you click through to the app store page for the OS upgrade. It's probably a bug related to other software downloads being made available but it's very annoying.

The MacOS Monterey update is not accessible. How do you decrease the window for MacOS Monterey privacy window, to select the continue button to complete the update installation process? The first window "to set up the installation MacOS Monterey, click continue." However, the window does not decrease nor does the tab button work to reach the continue button.

Hi,

In Software Update, is the box for "Automatically keep my Mac up to date" checked? If so, uncheck it. If your Mac isn't compatible, this shouldn't be the cause, but obviously something is.

Just for total correctness and suggest verifying this computer against the list of Qualifying computer for Monterey.

Does the >> Computer Qualify for the Monterey upgrade

Yup, the Apple Servers have been known to misidentify some computer as Qualifying for Monterey when they do not.

If this is the case with this computer - suggest contacting Apple to let them know about this

Yeah HS does not have that Pref Pane at all, it started with Mojave 10.14

Also, I don't know if High Sierra has this feature or not, but if so, in Software Update, click on Advanced and uncheck "Check for updates."
