I have a 2021 macbook air (M1 2021) and I am trying to contact an iMac (late 2015) as a display monitor so I can work on both screens at the same time. I have connected them using a Thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 cable however whenever I use command F2 nothing happens. I can use the iMac to display on the MacBook air but I need it to go the other way around.
Any suggestions?

Nope. Please read Target Display Mode (Target Display Mode) and please remember Macs are computers, they are not external displays for other devices.

Correct. You can AirPlay a Late 2015 iMac running Monterey to a 2020 MacBook Air but the 2015 iMac is too old to act as an AirPlay receiver.
