Friends. I want to import mini dv footage from a Sony GV - D900 Walkman video player, into my LATE 2013 IMAC. The Sony player uses a Sony iLink cable. The iMac has 2 thunderbolt ports. I have purchased an Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter, but the iLink doesn't fit into the Apple adapter. Is anyone out here familiar with the Sony GV and can anyone tell me what cable or adapter I need to purchase? Thanks MUCH. Madrid

Choice of Firewire 1394A to 1394B adapters. Double-check the gender of your iLink cable to match the 1394-A (400) adapter end and the 1394-B (800) end of your TB -> FW800 cable.
You need a 4 pin Firewire 400 to the 8 pin Firewire 800 that the adapter uses.
This is the end of the iLink cable that I need to connect into something that I can eventually plug into the thunderbolt port in the back of my iMac. I purchased a firewire to thunderbolt adapter. In your earlier message you mentioned cable gender. What kind of adapter would you suggest to help me make this connection? Again, THANK YOU for your response(s). M
