recently deleted items in photos

It doesn't seem to exist on my computer running the latest version of Monterey. Is it hidden? I don't even see an option in any of the menus that say show recently deleted or something. It's just gone under Photos. It's supposed to be under Imports in the Photos sidebar. Where is it?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.2

It only appears if there is something to go in it.

Try deleting an image you don't need.

As a test duplicate a photo with ⌘D, then delete it. Now you have something in Recently Deleted. Does the album appear in the sidebar? The album should appear at the bottom of the "Library" section.

You will not be able to see Recently Deleted at all, if you are using iCloud Photos and you are running out of Cloud Storage. Then you will have to free Cloud Storage, before you can again save deleted items in Recently Deleted.
