Is there a format bar to insert below the tool bar to add currency, bold and such. Referring to Numbers 09 Guide does help on my MacBookAir 12.2.1 ?

thanks

"Referring to Numbers 09 Guide does help on my MacBookAir 12.2.1 ?"

Not much connection between "Numbers '09" and the current versions macOS and current version(s) of Numbers. The iWork '09 versions of Numbers, Pages and Keynote are 32bit applications. macOS 12.x.x supports only 64bit applications.

The Numbers Help menu item in the Help menu in Numbers will take you to the current Numbers User Guide.

A quick look at that guide today did not reveal any means of editing the tool bar. A more thorough search might prove that result wrong.

Currency is a cell data format, and is set by selecting the cell(s) to contain currency values, then clicking the Format brush to open the Format Inspector, selecting the Cell pane, and using the Data format bar to set the data format to Currency, then setting the number of places to follow the decimal, the format to use for negative values, whether or not to include the thousands separator, whether to use 'accounting style', and what currency symbol to use.

Bold, Italics and Underline are 'text styles', and are handled in the Text section of the Format Inspector, or can be applied (or removed) using the keyboard shortcuts command-B, command-I and command-U respectively.

Barry

The "new" streamlined Numbers interface dropped that several years ago.

But remember you can always use command-b for bold text.

Currency format is set though the Data Format dropdown in the panel at the right.

You may find it helpful to explore the Numbers User Guide for Mac at Help > Numbers Help in your menu.
