Apple Magic Keyboard 2

Magic Keyboard won't charge or work when not in Bluetooth mode. Have tried using every USB port (A and C) to on iMac (all of which work with other devices and the same cable used to charge keyboard or operate keyboard as a wired keyboard). Have tried changing the cable, which works with all other devices and all USB ports on iMac. Also tried charging keyboard by connecting to an adapter and plugging in. No dice. Keyboard worked fine wirelessly until it ran out of charge. Problem appears to be with keyboards charging port as all other adapters, cables, and USB ports on iMac work fine with other devices and cables. Is there anything that can be done or is this just a piece of s**t keyboard?
