Family share permission not working

My daughter tries to buy or rent from her iPad that requires permission from either my wife or I. It seems to randomly fail to send us the request about 20% of the time. Thoughts about how to make more stable? Settings in Family Sharing/iCloud we should verify?

Hello Pdxdad2014,

For issues with the Ask to Buy notification not being received, we'd recommend checking out the "If your Ask to Buy requests are missing" section of this page to start: If Ask to Buy isn't working

On that link it'll help to note the following:

If you miss an Ask to Buy notification, you can find the request in Notification Center on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. If you still don't see your Ask to Buy requests, check which Apple ID you're signed in with, check your Family Sharing settings, and make sure that you're on a supported device.

  1. It may also to try temporarily changing the device name for each parent/organizer and child device involved. This can be done on iOS at Settings > General > About > Name. If not immediately resolved, try leaving the device's name changed for 24 hours.
  2. It may also help to try toggling Ask to Buy for the child's device off (done via the parent/organizer's device), wait a bit, and then toggle it back on.
  3. Check to see if Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode (Settings > Focus in iOS 15) are enabled. If so, try disabling them to see if this has helped.

Cheers.
