Help choosing monitor for early 2016 MacBook (3/2022)

March 2022. I need help figuring out what external display monitor to buy that will work with my early 2016 MacBook. Also, what cables do I need. I have an adapter with an HDMI port. I mostly just do document drafting/editing. No video editing or gaming. (Prefer adjustable arm and 24-27” size.) Thanks!

MacBook, macOS 12.2

Your 2016 MacBook likely has the following graphics spec: Graphics and Video Support

  • Intel HD Graphics 515
  • Dual display and video mirroring: simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at 30Hz on an external display, both at millions of colors.

You can run 1080p at 60Hz, for smaller monitors, responses are noticeably faster, and you can't really see much, if any difference in resolution until you get into bigger monitors.

The 12-in. MacBook (early 2016) Retina, will cue the display to see if it can be used by your Mac.

Hardware supports most displays with their correct adapters, which fit the specifications here:
